Day Tours

We offer pre-designed day trips, that are ideal extensions to attach to one of our climbing and trekking packages. The day trips include an exploration of the churches and rich history found in Old Town Quito, the first UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Center, a teleferiqo ride up to an elevation of 4,000 meters (13,123 ft) on Pichincha to gaze down into the city below, shopping for souvenirs at the Otavalo artisan market or a visit to the monument marking the Equatorial Line in the village of Mitad del Mundo.

Colonial Quito is one of the best-preserved historic centers in South America. The rich interiors of the monasteries and churches are examples of the 'Baroque school of Quito' - a fusion of Spanish, Italian, Moorish, Flemish and indigenous art. It is estimated that there are one and a half tons of gold leaf covering on the ceiling and walls of La Compañía de Jesús Jesuit Church.

Otavalo's main square, Plaza de Ponchos, is home to one of the most famous craft markets and masterful artisans in South America. Market crafts include Otavalo embroidered shirts, watercolor paintings, jewelry, pottery, carved wooden figurines, textiles and tapestries, and the misnomered Panama hats; they are most famous for their vibrant colored weavings and textiles.

For high altitude enthusiasts, we have a number of climbing packages that include city and market tours, acclimatization hikes and summit attempts on the snow capped volcanoes of Ecuador. Visit our Climbing Packages page to read more about these. If you still don't find exactly what you are looking for, drop us an email or call and we can work with you to tailor a trip that meets your holiday goals!
